Learning Analytics: Looking Ahead

Learning Analytics has progressively consolidated itself as a key research and innovation field for improving teaching and learning processes. Over the past decade, the LASI Spain community has played a key role in advancing research, fostering collaboration, and promoting the responsible adoption of Learning Analytics across educational contexts.

The Learning Analytics Summer Institute Spain 2026 (LASI Spain 2026), to be held in Zamora (Spain) on May 7–8, 2026, invites the community to take a forward-looking perspective. As the field matures and intersects more deeply with generative artificial intelligence, multimodal data, human-centered design, explainability, and regulatory frameworks, this is a moment not only to consolidate knowledge but also to imagine the next chapter of Learning Analytics.

LASI Spain is part of the global LASI network (https://www.solaresearch.org/events/lasi/), conceived as a platform to catalyze educators, technologists, researchers, enterprises, and policymakers around shaping the next generation of learning infrastructures to truly serve the evolving needs of education.

LASI Spain 2026 offers a space to reflect on achievements, strengthen connections, and collectively envision sustainable, impactful, and human-centered futures for Learning Analytics research and practice. We warmly invite contributions that help articulate what the next decade of Learning Analytics could (and should) look like.

Theme: Envisioning the Next Decade of Learning Analytics

As Learning Analytics continues to evolve, several critical questions emerge:

  • What research agendas should guide Learning Analytics in the coming years?
  • How can we ensure meaningful, scalable, and sustainable institutional adoption?
  • How do we balance technological innovation with pedagogical value and trustworthiness?
  • What evidence is needed to demonstrate real impact on teaching and learning?

We welcome contributions that critically examine current practices while proposing forward-looking perspectives, methodological innovations, evaluation frameworks, and new domains of application.

Submission Guidelines & Template

Authors are invited to submit original contributions following the official CEUR-WS style in the following link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=lasispain2026.

Preferred Method: Overleaf (LaTeX)

We strongly recommend using our dedicated Overleaf template. This is the most reliable way to ensure your submission adheres to the required formatting, margins, and font styles (Libertinus family).

Important: Please select LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX as the compiler in the Overleaf settings to correctly render the Libertinus fonts.

Alternative Method: LibreOffice

While LaTeX is our preferred format for its precision and reliability, authors who cannot use Overleaf may use LibreOffice. In that case:

  • Download the official CEUR-WS .odt template from the conference website.
  • Strictly follow the styling instructions (styles, spacing, and headings).
  • Fundamental Requirement: Install the Libertinus font family on your system before editing the document, following the specific instructions included within the .odt file itself. Failure to do so will result in incorrect formatting and layout shifts.

If possible, we encourage the use of the Overleaf template even for beginners. It guarantees that the visual identity of the conference is respected and significantly reduces the need for post-acceptance formatting corrections.

Important: Submissions that significantly deviate from the template styles may be returned to the authors for re-formatting before being sent to review.

Reviewing & Publication Process

Short papers will undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two members of the international program committee.

Authors of accepted contributions will submit a camera-ready version for inclusion in the conference proceedings. At least one author must register and present the work at the conference.

Best Paper Award

LASI Spain 2026 will recognize the best paper of the edition, selected by the conference committee.

Registration

LASI Spain 2026 will have no registration fees (free participation), but registration will be required.`
